The craziest masquerades in Istria

Rovinjsko Selo will once again come alive in the spirit of carnival! From February 13 to 18, 2026, Seljanske Maškare will take place, offering a rich program filled with tradition, entertainment, and fun for all generations. Admission to all events is free.

The program begins on Friday, February 13, at 6:00 PM at the Cultural Center with the opening of the photo exhibition “70 Years of Seljanske Maškare”, showcasing the long-standing carnival tradition of the village.

Saturday, February 14, is dedicated to the youngest participants. At 4:30 PM, a parade of children in costume will set off from the school to the Cultural Center, followed at 5:00 PM by a carnival party featuring games, animation, and a DJ. The event will also include the selection of the best masks, with numerous prizes.

The highlight of the festivities is Tuesday, February 17 – Carnival Tuesday. Throughout the day, masked groups will visit households in Rovinjsko Selo. The evening program continues with a celebration at Pudarica at 7:00 PM, followed by a grand masked ball at the Cultural Center at 9:00 PM, featuring live music by Alfa Time Band and Cukar & Caffè, along with generous prizes for the best costumes.

The carnival celebrations conclude on Wednesday, February 18, at 4:30 PM with the traditional burning of the Pust, symbolically marking the end of the carnival season.
