Rovinj had the highest number of overnight stays in Croatia over the first half of the year

During the first 6 months Rovinj had 261,450 arrivals and 1,205,119 overnight stays, which is an increase of 18% in arrivals and 14% in overnight stays, and thus took the first place in the number of overnight stays in the Republic of Croatia. The millionth overnight stay this year occurred on 23 June 2018, five days earlier in comparison with the previous year. When considering arrivals by originating country, the most numerous were tourists from Germany with 335,678 overnight stays (29.51%), which is an increase of 4% from the previous year. In second place were tourists from Austria with 205,959 overnight stays (17.09%), which is an increase of 14%. In third place were Croatian tourists with 114,151 overnight stays (9.47%), which is an increase of 32%. The fourth place was taken by tourists from Slovenia with 97,243 overnight stays (8.07%), which is an increase of 31%. They were followed by tourists from Italy with 78,401 overnight stays (6.51%), which is 3% less than in 2017. By accommodation type, the highest number of overnight stays was realized in campsites, with 500,873 overnight stays (41.56%) and an increase of 14%. Hotels had 335,510 overnight stays (27.84%), which is an increase of 19%. Private accommodations had 191,619 overnight stays (15.90%), which is an increase of 11%. Tourist villages had 105,771 overnight stays (8.77%), which is 1% more than in 2017. By age groups, the most numerous were 45-54 year-olds with 204,111 (16.93%) overnight stays, which is an increase of 7%. They were followed by 55-64 year-olds with 200,197 overnight stays (16.61%), which is an increase of 7%. In third place are 35-44 year-olds with 194,197 overnight stays (16.11%), which is an increase of 21% from the previous year.
