Histria Aromatica
Histria Aromatica Park is located near Bale, just a 15-minute drive from Rovinj, on the Pižanovac hill, offering a view that stretches all the way to the Rovinj archipelago.
The park features landscaped walking paths through plantations and gardens covering more than 100,000 square meters, with over 300 species of indigenous aromatic, culinary, and medicinal herbs, olive groves, and vineyards — creating a natural paradise for all the senses. In addition to fields of lavender, immortelle, rosemary, sage, and Dalmatian pyrethrum, the park also includes the Smokvina Cave, from which a 120-year-old fig tree grows and still bears fruit — a truly unique sight.
Within the park, you'll find a natural cosmetics shop and a restaurant serving traditional Istrian cuisine, offering dishes such as žgvacet (Istrian stew), boškarin goulash (from native Istrian ox), fuži and gnocchi (traditional pasta), cukerančići (Istrian sweet cookies), lavender cookies, and more.
A special experience offered in the park is the Dinner Under the Stars, which begins with a drink tasting overlooking Rovinj, followed by a three-course dinner. Afterwards, the lights are turned off, and guests are guided in stargazing with expert narration that includes stories from Greek mythology about the stars and galaxies.
For art lovers, there’s a Wine and Paint workshop, held in a small oak grove under natural shade. For food enthusiasts, the park offers culinary workshops and guided sensory tours through the plant park.
