Two weeks of hot salsa rhythms
The second half of June is traditionally the time when the world's best salsa dancers gather in Rovinj. For two weeks the hotels and the most of the private accommodation were filled to capacity accommodating three thousand visitors, mostly dancers and instructors. This dancing crowd was welcomed not only by tourism workers but also by all the hosts. Some were happy to see their old guests that came to Rovinj for the eleventh year in a row and with whom they have become friends, and others were happy because the waterfront as well as the most town squares was “dancing” to the rhythms of salsa. And this scene played out before the eyes of a wider audience in the town of St. Euphemia night after night. The crowning event was the great salsa party/Grande fiesta on the Marshal Tito Square, whose stage hosted numerous talented dancers in lavish costumes. Three thousand souls danced not only in the town center while salsa music was featured at numerous attractive venues such as tourist resorts and hotels, which hosted various beginners and advanced workshops for future salsa dancers, attractive pool and secret vineyard parties, Paradiso party on Zlatni rt (Golden Cape Forest Park), and lavish dance evenings at the premises of the former Tobacco factory. Thanks to the organizers and collaboration between the companies Salsa Adria Produkcije d.o.o. and ‘Los Mamberos’ dance studio, as well as the loyal sponsors of the event, the Tourist Board and a hospitality company ‘Maistra’, the town of Rovinj has danced into another, apparently a record tourism season.
