This year Rovinj beat all its tourism records and hosted forty thousand vacationing guests enjoying themselves during a manifestation entitled “St. Lawrence Night“

The event called The Night of St. Lawrence, which accentuates the romantic spirit of Rovinj, will be organized this year for the tenth year in a row. This is the night when the falling stars called „the tears of St. Lawrence“ are most clearly seen in the sky. The waterfront night lighting will be turned off and torches will be lit instead in order to further accentuate the town’s romantic spirit. The numerous hotel and restaurant terraces will radiate candlelight, and the atmosphere will be completed by romantic music.

The romantic spirit of Rovinj will be further enriched by the dim light effects that will colorfully embellish the town square. The program will start with a promenade walk and a dance performance by the members of a dance ensemble. Dressed in court gowns and accompanied by musicians and torch lights, the dancers will give a hint as to the spirit of the entire event.

THE YEAR WHEN ROVINJ BEAT ALL TOURISM RECORDS AND NUMBERS

ST. LAWRENCE NIGHT – THE NIGHT TO REMEMBER

This year Rovinj beat all its tourism records and hosted forty thousand vacationing guests enjoying themselves during a manifestation entitled “St. Lawrence Night“. This event, traditionally organized by the Tourism Association for its tenth consecutive year, was truly special. With as many as nine stages, both the tourists and the locals enjoyed soft musical sounds and voices of more than a hundred performers. The entire musical ambiance was enhanced by two thousand candles and street torchlights hung along the city candelabras.

The St. Lawrence Night is dedicated to the saint and martyr who gave away the church riches to the poor and the sick. As punishment, he was whipped and burned at the stake. In his honour, the falling stars (the Perseid meteors) that can be seen in mid-August in their full splendour, were named “the tears of St. Lawrence”. The evening is also dedicated to the slogan the town proudly carries: Rovinj – the romantic Mediterranean.

The ambiance was romantic and intimate. Under the lights of candles and torchlights, soft music and voices were echoing in the heart of the city and along the waterfront. On the Marshal Tito Square the visitors were enjoying the performance by the group "Pavel", followed by performances by "Meri Jaman, Anita Valo & Jelena Radan". On the popular beach named Baulota, the band "Energy Accoustic" created an excellent atmosphere, while the duo "Eligio i Boris", rocked the show, as many locals would confirm. On the Shipyard Square the "Stand by" duo shifted things into the fifth gear. The excellent "Irena&Mauro Giorgi Accustic" duo offered just as much as the other performers at the Pignaton Square. Once again, the groups "The Blondes" and then "L'abeille i Quartet Mystique" got the attention on the popular Riviera Square, while the plateau in front of the Church of St. Francis was reserved for Ronald Braus, a baritone, and Antun Stašić, a violinist and Marjan Krajina who was playing an accordion. Also, the St. Cross Street, that is, its yard, was the stage for a performance by the vocalists of the Marco Garbin Cultural and Artistic Society, while the members of the Roxanne Dance Group, dressed as ladies-in-waiting, walked the streets and squares of Rovinj inviting tourists and the locals to the St. Lawrence Night. They were certainly, and deservingly so, the most photographed ladies in Rovinj. The entire event was enhanced with a superb gastro offer.
