1st Weekend Bike Gourmet Tour

THERE"S ALWAYS SOMETHING GOING ON IN ROVINJ

In recent years, significant investments have been made in the development and maintenance of bike trails on the territory of Rovinj and the surrounding area. We are referring to trails in the total length of 73 kilometers, i.e. the three well-known trails, namely the Limes, the Rubinum and the Vistrum, frequented with equal enthusiasm by both guests and amateur cyclists. If we add to this the recent works done on the Bazilika trail and the new 19 km long section with four resting spots and twelve educational boards, Rovinj now boasts an enviable number and length of bike trails intended for lovers of cycling. This was one of the reasons for creating a new event, Weekend Bike Gourmet Tour, the first edition of which will take place on October 24 and 25. Besides the Tourist Board, Rovinj Association of Craftsmen and Maistra will also participate in organizing the new event, said Ms. Odete Sapač, Director of the Tourist Board, at the recent press conference.

As already announced, during this two-day event the cyclists will cover an interesting and not-too-demanding route in the length just short of 100 kilometers. Besides enjoying a ride through attractive landscapes, the cyclists will also have a chance to taste the Istrian gastronomical and oenological delicacies. To be more precise, at each 10 km stretch there will be a gastro station offering the finest Istrian cuisine delicacies. Gathering of the cyclists participating in the 1st day ride is scheduled for 9.30 a.m. on the premises of the former railway station, wherefrom the cyclists will proceed towards the Lim Channel, Golaš, Bale and Kokuletovići. The 2nd day ride is scheduled for 10 a.m. The cyclists will have a chance to enjoy a ride through Rovinjsko selo, Pižanovac and Polar, all the way to Kuv and the Golden Cape Park Forest (Zlatni rt), explained Boban Memedović, the cycling ride leader. President of the Rovinj Association of Craftsmen, Marino Deković, added a few words about the gourmet part of the event, pointing out that it will reveal all the richness and diversity of the autumn fruits of the sea and land in Istria, as well as present quality wine and homemade delicacies. Leo Urlić, Maistra"s Marketing Director, pointed out once again that the cyclists will be offered accommodation at Hotel Park, where they will also register for participation in Rovinj’s 1st Weekend Gourmet Bike Tour, signing up either for the whole package (HRK 460 per day) or just for the program without accommodation (HRK 250 per day).
