November in Istria has, for years, carried a special scent and taste – the aroma of homemade cooking and the flavor of tradition. When the fields fall silent after the harvests, and the taverns fill with the smell of freshly made sausages, ombolo (dry-cured pork), and warm bread, Istrian family farms open their doors with pride to welcome guests eager for authentic flavors and a genuine homely experience.

The wine and gastronomy event “Open Days of Istrian Agritourisms” celebrates its 15th anniversary this year, continuing the tradition of bringing together agritourisms across Istria with the goal of enriching the tourist offer, extending the season, and promoting rural households through a reinterpretation of traditional Istrian gastronomy. Over the years, this dedication to showcasing authentic Istrian flavors has proven the event’s success, as visitors eagerly anticipate each new edition.

The traces of Istria’s turbulent past and the hardworking lifestyle of its people are deeply woven into its traditional, authentic cuisine, which has preserved not only dishes but also customs, preparation methods, legends, and the very way of cooking. All of this has left a significant mark on local gastronomy, culture, and traditions, and the Open Days of Istrian Agritourisms brings these stories to life through genuine experiences, celebrating a cuisine based on ingredients grown by family farms.

The event will take place over four weekends in November 2025: November 8–9, 15–16, 22–23, and 29–30. During this special jubilee edition, nine agritourisms across Istria will prepare authentic dishes at promotional prices, with some offering additional attractions – from farm animal visits and folk performances to showcases of their own and local products, as well as creative art workshops for visitors.

This year’s participants include:

  • Agritourism Cerovac (Nedešćina)

  • Agritourism Dušani (Pazin)

  • Agritourism Montižel (Grožnjan)

  • Agritourism Pineta (Sv. Martin near Nedešćina)

  • Agritourism Sia (Vodnjan)

  • Agritourism Štefanić (Kaldir near Motovun)

  • Agritourism Ondina (Svetvinčenat)

  • Agritourism Pod čeripnjon (Sv. Petar u Šumi)

  • Stancija Buršić (Vodnjan)

The 15th edition of the event will be officially opened at Stancija Pršutarna Buršić in Vodnjan. Detailed information about each agritourism’s menu will be available on the event’s official website – www.dovai.eu – and reservations can be made directly with the chosen agritourism. During the event, guests will be able to enjoy an aperitif, appetizer, main course, side dish, salad, and dessert at a promotional price of €30.00. Each family farm is known for producing its own ingredients, which gives every menu a unique character.

This year’s edition will also feature creative art workshops, offering visitors the chance to experience the artistic side of Istrian heritage alongside its gastronomy. Under the expert guidance of local artists, participants will be able to create and paint their own ceramic items or paint scenes inspired by the Istrian landscape, taking home personal memories as unique pieces of art.

These workshops combine art, tradition, and experiential tourism, encouraging creativity, interaction, and a deeper connection with the local culture. In addition to artistic activities, visitors can tour family farms, taste and purchase local products, and explore Istria’s beautiful landscapes through walks, cycling, and other recreational experiences that round out the authentic Istrian adventure.

Don’t miss one of the most outstanding events promoting Istria’s rural, agricultural, and gastronomic identity. Make your reservation early to experience the Istrian culinary story, enriched by the flavors of the land and the heartfelt hospitality of its agritourisms.
