Rovinj - Tourism Champion of Croatia for 2014

After six years, the Town of Rovinj was again proclaimed tourism champion of Croatia and honoured with the "18th Tourism Flower - Quality for Croatia 2014" award by the Croatian Chamber of Economy. Rovinj has received this prestigious tourism award during the Croatian Tourism Days in Opatija, at the awards ceremony honouring the best of destinations, hotels, marinas, campsites and tourist workers in the previous tourist season. The Prime Minister Zoran Milanović presented the award to the Mayor of Rovinj, Giovanni Sponza. Besides Rovinj, which has also been awarded as the best major destination on the Adriatic, awards were presented to Monte Mulini Hotel as the best hotel in Croatia, and the event Red Bull Air Race as the tourism event of the year.
The ‘Tourism Flower - Quality for Croatia’ action is an evaluation of tourist destinations that has traditionally been carried out with the help of professional associations, the Association of Employers in Croatian Hospitality, the Croatian Camping Union, the Institute of Social Sciences ‘Ivo Pilar’, the Croatian Association of Marinas at the Croatian Chamber of Economy, the Ministry of Environmental and Nature Protection, and the Croatian National Tourist Board that joined the action last year. All this and the fact that this year 48 judges visited 103 destinations and rated 80 hotels, 15 marinas, 33 campsites, 907 beaches in seven Croatian counties, proves the importance of this commendable action.
Like many years before, the Croatian National Tourist Board has awarded the prize ‘Man as a key to success in the tourism industry’ in 23 categories, thus confirming the importance and contribution of individuals to the creation of the image of Croatia as a quality tourist destination as well as to the overall success of Croatian tourism.
