The ‘Be a Hero for Nature’ Project
12.3.2025
The Tourist Board of Rovinj-Rovigno has joined the ‘Be a Hero for Nature’ project aimed at protecting bees, increasing biodiversity and encouraging active participation in environmental protection, also focusing on highlighting how bees are essential for the survival of humanity. In cooperation with the Krnica Api Raponja family farm, a beehive of the Tourist Board of Rovinj-Rovigno with approximately 50,000 bees was installed in a natural environment, so that bees can freely pollinate and produce honey. The Api Raponja family farm takes care of the hive and the nutrition, health and welfare of the bees, making sure that the bee colonies are healthy and produce high-quality honey. As a project participant the Tourist Board receives a certain number of acacia honey jars with a logo and certificate confirming their contribution to nature conservation. At the end of the year, the Api Raponja family farm issues a report on the contribution of the project to environmental protection, including the number of bees supported in their bee habitat, the amount of honey produced and other ecological benefits, such as pollination. By purchasing the beehive, the Tourist Board of Rovinj-Rovigno has joined a global initiative to preserve nature, i.e., one of the most important world’s ecosystems.
