Burning Man Comes to Rovinj: Marina Benković Unveils Homecoming
If you've ever dreamed of experiencing Burning Man, now is your chance to feel its atmosphere in the very heart of Rovinj. On August 23, the Photo Art Gallery Batana opens Homecoming, a new photography exhibition by Marina Benković.
Captured at Nevada’s legendary Burning Man festival, the series transcends mere documentation. Immersed in the chromatic poetry of dawn and twilight — violets, pinks, and liquid gold — Benković’s images conjure a parallel world: vast horizons where monumental art installations rise from the dust, silhouettes glide in fantastical attire, and the boundary between chaos and serenity dissolves.
Homecoming is not only a visual narrative of one of the world’s most extraordinary festivals, but also a personal journey. After being shown in Zagreb and on the island of Krk, the exhibition arrives in Istria as an intimate return to the artist’s roots.
With poetic timing, Homecoming opens on August 23 — just one day before Burning Man 2025 officially begins in the Nevada desert — weaving a symbolic bridge between two landscapes: the infinite dust of Black Rock and the stone-paved shores of Rovinj. Opening on August 23 at 8 p.m., the exhibition remains on view until September 11.
Gallery open hours: Monday - Friday 10:30-13:30 & 18:00-23:00 / Saturday 10:30-14:30. Admission is free.
