Welcoming the arrival of the tourist season, the officials of the Tourist Board have organized a concert at their central Town square by one of the most popular national singers - Severina.
Her excellent concert, which consisted of two hours of energetic music and singing, dancing and interacting with the audience, was preceded by a performance by a local bend Dream project, whose members warmed up the audience with their performances of popular rock songs.
A famous singer, who is also increasingly being engaged as actress, has opened the Rovinj concert with her song „Tvoja prva djevojka“ (your first girlfriend), followed by performance of „Dodirni mi koljena“ (touch my knees), a song performed by Zana Nimani at the end of 1980s which at the time was a major hit in former Yugoslavia. Numerous Severina’s hits followed, with a large audience singing the choruses together with her. With performance of some of her songs e.g. Djevojka sa sela or Dalmatinka which in time, have almost become evergreens, Severina showed why she has been heading the music Olympus for almost two decades.
Severina Vučković has recorded nine studio albums. Mid 1980s, she started receiving her first awards at „Prvi pljesak“ (first applause) in Split, „Daruvarski susreti“ (Daruvar meetings) and she was declared the best singer at Studentsko ljeto (Student summer). During her prolific career, she has had several successful collaborations with musicians such as Arsen and Matija Dedić, Nikša Bratoš, Đorđe Novković, Gibonni, Dražen Žerić and others. In 2006, she collaborated with the former leader of Bijelo dugme, Goran Bregović, Boris Novković and Franjo Valentić with whose song „Moja štikla“ (My heel) she performed at festival Dora, which won her the first place thus making her Croatia’s representative at the Eurovision in Athens.
In addition to her singing career, she is also known as a model, a host and an actress. She made her acting debut thanks to a former intendant of Rijeka HNK (Croatian National Theatre), Mani Gotovac, who cast her for the leading role in the rock opera Karolina Riječka. In 2004, with director Peđa Ličin, Severina took part in „Gdje je nestala Slovenija?“ (where did Slovenia go?) and only a year after she produced and played in her first independent project – a monodrama by Jagaš Marković „Čekajući svog čovika“ (waiting for my man). She played in several films „Duhovi Sarajeva“ (ghosts of Sarajevo) and „Petelinji zajtrk“ (Petelinja’s breakfast). However, her biggest theatre project was realized during 2007 when she worked with the Rijeka theatre ensemble on big performance „Gospoda Glembajevi“ (The Glembajs).
By bringing the mega star Severina, the Tourist Board has made it clear that this summer, town will be rich not only in numerous but also in attractive and quality events.
