Rovinj's Drum Majorettes celebrated the ten-year anniversary of their establishment and existence in the best possible way, by putting on a performance on the city's central square.
In front of a large number of fans and curious visitors who were attracted by the majorettes’ music and attractive red and white uniforms, the drum majorettes showed off their lovely baton twirling techniques and were watched with great interest.
Lovely performances by Rovinj’s cadets, juniors and seniors received much applause, while ovations were also directed towards special guest stars – majorettes from Labin and Mali Losinj.
The anniversary performance was an opportunity for locals to reminisce the majorettes’ early techniques, which were performed by Rovinj’s first generation of majorettes back in 1997, under the guidance of instructor Lidija Martincic.
After ten years, these majorette pioneers gathered together once again to perform on the city’s main square.
They were each formally acknowledged for their contributions to the promotion of Rovinj’s majorettes and were given flowers and a CD featuring their finest performances.
Their successors lead and trained today by Jadranka Pamic, bear witness to the great popularity of this form of entertainment. Due to their hard work and commitment to practice, Rovinj’s majorettes have become obligatorily sought out to perform during all larger events in Rovinj and Istra held over the years. They have also won many awards. Their latest series of success stories was attained at the Regional Championships in Biograd, where the juniors won first place, as did senior Tina Aflic who performed in a solo category.
