After a cloudy, and later, rainy day, the third and last day of the entertainment and sports manifestation entitled Populana finally saw some sunshine, craved for long. It seems the arrival was timely – when the square and the town quay was being flooded by runners from the early morning hours – participants of the recreational run five kilometres long, as well as by half-marathon runners who had to go twenty-one kilometres as fast as they could. Guests were most successful among the recreational runners. Aleksandar Kovačević from Slovenia came first, followed by Stefano Bevilacqua from Italy and Dario Marić from Rijeka who was the third, while Loris Zubak from Pula came fourth. The running glory of Rovinj folk was saved by the young Jody Pellizzer, coming in fifth. As for the half-marathon, for the first time in its six year long history in Rovinj – women celebrated. Paola Mariotti from Italy came first, i.e. Mima Rudl arrived but a minute later after the first place winner to the finish line at the central town square. Among more than a hundred runners of the half-marathon, the best local runner was Igor Morožin, coming in eleventh.

Sports fishermen, members of the Meduza club, also had reason to celebrate, on account of their hefty catch from the sea and the shore, who used it to prepare an excellent brodetto before everyone at the quay. Fish was plentiful, as they were aided by the most successful fishermen attending the county championship. In the category of underwater fishing, the best catch was made by Josip Urti, Branko Ikić and Roberto Caffola, while Alen Bilić, David Pinezić and Patrik Toma were best fishing from the shore, and Valter Sponza, Sanjin Soldatić and Stefano Stelko from the sea.

The fourth edition of Populana gathered some two thousand participants while its principal organisers were the employees of the Association of sports, the Tourist Board, Maistra and numerous sports clubs in the Rovinj region.
