On Thursday night, after two years, Rovinj was once again the host of the Supercontato mega-show, a traditional traveling summer program organized by the Italian Radio Company from Padova. Numerous Rovinj audience, who assembled at the main town square, really enjoyed the free open-air music spectacle. The same spectacle was organized this year in Italian towns of Treviso, Padova, Trieste, Rimini, Lesol, and Lignan. After the 13 th tour venue, the only one in Croatia, the tour will end in L’Aquila at the end of August.

The extensive preparations for the spectacle took two days to finish: a technical team set up a huge stage in the center of the town which, of course, had to be reduced to compensate for the lack of available space. This is not at all unusual in Rovinj. The sound wiring of 25 000 MV was installed, and the lighting was such as is not often seen at similar spectacles in Croatia.

The program had media coverage via satellite, and has been aired across Europe, as well as via Radio Company’s Internet site. The Italian TV stations also recorded and aired the spectacle. The tempo of the program that lasted more than three hours was constantly being turned up by the most famous voices and DJs of this very popular Italian radio station: Alex Bini, Lady Hellen, Max Biraghi, Stefano Mattara, Andrea Rossini, Pietro, Massimo Santi, Simone Alunni, and Andrea De Luca. Throughout the performance they maintained a constant and quality interaction with the numerous audience.

The evening was opened by the performance of the X – Life Duo from Trieste and their song Ancora Dormi. Later, Mister V performed his hit Alzati la gonna. Along with many performances and games led by the Radio Company leader, and giving away of presents for the viewers, the stars of the night performed for the Rovinj audience. The most famous among them is Maria, who sang her biggest hit so far Tu nem ai. Hellen also ignited the audience by performing three of her songs: Vedo e sento, La musica che batte, and Il gioco dell’ amore.

This entertaining night continued with a performance of M@D and his hit The Concert. It’s a pity that Eddy Vvatt could not perform for the Rovinj audience. He was held up at the border. The surprise of the evening was the performance by Tony Cetinski who thrilled the audience climbing onto the metal construction, and singing his well-known song Blago onom ko te ima.

All through the night the Radio Company DJs played hits - the usual repertoire of the disco-clubs. They also presented a music compilation, part of the recently released CD Supercontattotour, which contains all the hits from the Radio Company performances so far.

It is estimated that around 10 000 guests came to Rovinj main square to see the show, the same number of guests as in the last two years. Vice-Mayor of Rovinj Silvano Zilli thanked the guests and the organizers. The Radio Company presented him with a plaque in the shape of a disc. The mega-spectacle had to end at 1 AM in respect of public order even though the audience cheered for more.
