The Rovino wine festival took place this year for the second time in a row as part of the traditional Rovinj Night, which has been organized by the Tourist Association of Rovinj for the past 25 years.

Rovino is an exhibition and tasting of the finest Istrian wines. This year, twelve wine producers assembled to present their products – Igor Žužić Grota, Moreno Coronica, Giansandro Rudan, Franco Kozlović, Eligio Pilato, Franc Arman, Radovan Franco, Duilio Zigante, Petar Poletti, Marijan Arman, Ivica Matošević, and Moreno Degrassi.

A commission consisting of Rene Bakalović, a journalist, Franko Lukež, a gastronome, and Edi Mažuran, the good ghost of Rovino, proclaimed Cabernet Franc Barrique, produced by Moreno Degrassi, the best wine at the festival. However, in spite of the commission’s decision, many wine tasters, who had an opportunity from midday to midnight to circle the stands and taste the products of the magnificent twelve, agreed that all wines were good, and that none of the producers had anything to be ashamed of. To enjoy all that wine and be able to make such a judgment, the wine tasters had to spend only 50 HRK. That was the price of a stylized glass with the Rovino logo on it that had to be full at all times. A bought glass made it possible for the wine tasters to drink as much wine as they want or as much as they can bear. They had a variety of wines to choose from: Malvazija, Yellow and White Muskat, Chardonnay, Teran, Gran Teran, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Noir, Merlot, CabernetSauvignon, Millenium Alba, and Millenium Mor, and the award-winning Cabernet Franc Barrique.
