Charming Ricardo Luque delights the audience
Within the Avant-garde Jazz Festival, organized for the fourth year in a row in Rovinj, the audience had the opportunity to see and hear the charming Ricardo Luque, bassoon player and the former singer of the band Cubismo, whose vocal interpretations, enhanced by masterful performances by the Jazz Orchestra of the Croatian Radio-Television, delighted the audience. The concert which took place in the main square was marked by Latin American rhythms which thrilled the audience and inspired it to start dancing to the fiery salsa rhythm.
The famous performer of Latin American rhythms is to this day associated with the excellent and mega-popular band Cubismo, with which Luque released six albums and was its recognizable musical brand. After ten years of cooperation, they parted ways, and the most famous Venezuelan in Croatia continued a solo career, recording his first solo album Plena confianza in 2004. As a side note, throughout his career, Ricardo Luque shared the stage with many great Latin American musicians, like Yolanda Duque and the musicians from the Buena Vista Social Club project. Today, he is a member of the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra and the Zagreb Woodwind Ensemble.
Beside Luque and Miron Hauser, trombone player who also filled the role of the conductor for the Jazz Orchestra, the atmosphere of the concert was boosted by solo performances given by various musicians, among which the one by Branko Sterpin, trumpet player, was particularly impressive. The next 4th Avant-garde Jazz Festival concert will take place on 10 and 11 July, with the performances by the Regina Carter Quintet and the Patitucci-Perez-Blade Trio.
