For the ninth year in a row, a concert entitled Ronald Braus and Guests was held on the island of St Andrew (the Red Island), which was organized by the town Tourist Board and “Maistra.” The principal guest of the evening was Ljupka Dimitrovska, who performed for the audience some of her most popular tunes. Accompanied by musicians from Rovinj, Boris Licitar, Igor Zohila and Mauro Jurman, she sang her hits “Čibu, čiba“, “Godine nisu važne“, “Ta tvoja barka mala“ , “Adio“ and “Nema više ljubavi“, while she did “Maškare” and “Gitaro, gitaro” in a vocal trio with Mirko Cetinski and Ronald Braus. It should be pointed out the once exceptionally popular Ljupka Dimitrovska performed on the Red Island last two decades ago.
Along with the host Braus, who sang “Autobus Calypso“ and the aria of “Figaro“ at the start of the evening, the role of the co-host of the programme was once again, this year as well, taken by the actress Mia Elegović from Zagreb. The many spectators also saw two local stars - Patrizia Sfettina and the young but exceptionally talented Matteo Tromba. Among the guests were the actress Vesna Čipčić from Belgrade, and the mezzo-soprano Blanka Tkalčić Brglec, who performed part of the aria from the operetta “Little Floramy,” accompanied by Vesna Ivanović Ocvirk on the piano. Singing in a duet with the baritone Braus, she also sang “La ci darem la mano,“ from Mozart’s opera “Don Giovanni“. There were two surprise acts as well. As tribute to the recently gone politician Savka Dabčević Kučar, Braus sang her favourite song “Oko jedne hiže navek tiči lete“, with him subsequently giving a bouquet of red roses and a statue of the local Batana boat to his grandmother Katarina Senjanović. The concert by Ronald Braus and Guests was finished with a joint performance by all participants of the tune of “Neka cijeli ovaj svijet,“ from the musical “Jalta, Jalta“.
As expected, compliments for the kindness and excellent host of the concert evening role are due to the employees of “Istra“ of the Red Island, who once again, just like countless times before, proved to be versed connoisseurs of their trade, preparing veritable gastronomic gems and selecting wine and other quality drinks.
