The 13th Nature Biennial of Federations of Photographic Art was opened in Rovinj. It was organized by the International Federation of Photographic Art, the Croatian Photographic Art Association and the Batana Visual Arts Center under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Croatia, the Istrian County, the City of Rovinj and the Tourist Association of Rovinj.
410 authors from 27 countries, divided into two categories, presented themselves at the Batana Visual Arts Center. 260 authors with 260 works participated in the photography category, and 150 authors with 300 works participated in the slides category.
The International Assessment Board consisting of Albano Sgarbi, Ivica Nikolac, Virgilio Giuricin, Rafael Podobnik, Lino Ghidoni, Predrag Bosnar and Zlata Medak decided to present the first prize, the World Cup, to the Italian Federation in both categories. The awards in the form of brass batana boats were presented by parish priest Ivan Jakovčić and Parliament Member Furia Radina to Fulvio Merlak, Chairman of the Italian Photographic Art Association.
The Golden Plaque was presented to the representatives of the German Federation, the Silver Plaque to the representatives of the French Federation, and the Bronze Plaque to the representatives of the Belgium Federation. Director of the Batana Visual Arts Center Virgilio Giuricin informed the attendees at the exhibition opening that this gallery and the city of Rovinj will host the Gathering of the World Masters of Photography for the following three years.
