Perhaps the most exciting moment during the third-in-a-row Photodays held in Rovinj on 5 and 6 June was the very declaration of the best authors and most successful photographs. All in all, each of the twelve categories produced the same number of first-place photographs.
Within the category of Publishing, the most successful was Stanko Abadžić, within Architecture, Ivana Hengel, Multimedia Dinko Cepak, Stills Mladen Šarić, Nudes Petra Mrše, Fashion Romano Decker and Dejan Kutić, Nature Dinko Neskulis, Professional Concept Ana Peraica, Photo-Journalists Antonio Bronić, Free Subject Petar Trinajstić, and – within the category entitled People – Tom Dubravec. The lifetime achievement award went to the prominent Istrian photographer Renco Kosinožić.
During the second day of this unique festival of photography, the award photo route in the open was taking place as well. Photographers were able to compete for attractive prizes, cameras and free stays in Rovinj, in one of six disciplines. Among competition tasks were finding and shooting the historical core photographs, Rovinj women wearing traditional dresses, fishermen engaged in fixing nets, portraits of festival participants, free subjects, as well as shooting details of an attractive sports Audi.
Simultaneously, a workshop entitled “There are No Limits, Or?” by Bruno Kazinoti was taking place, followed by an overview of the portfolio. The Multimedia Centre was the location for the panel discussion on the topic of “Current Developments in Photography, from Galleries to Commercial Industry,” lectured on by Natalija Bajrić, Helena Srakočić and Brane Kovič from the editorial staff of the Refoto.
