From 12th to 14th of April manifestation called "Rovinj rock climbing festival" will be held in Rovinj and climbing areas around the town. Rovinj with its climbing areas Dvigrad, Limski kanal and Punta Corente, having more than 250 climbing routs in different categories of difficulty (raging from those for complete beginners to master category as the one called "Malvazija" in Dvigrad that was equipped and climbed by famous Manolo ten years ago and hasn't been climbed since) became with Paklenica one of two biggest climbing centres in Croatia. The goal of manifestation "Rovinj rock climbing festival" is to assemble several hundreds climbers from Croatia and Europe in Rovinj at the middle of April, and to accomplish that we organized happenings that unite many different aspects like sport, ecology, culture and tourism. During those three days we offer several programmes: -competition in sport climbing on the artificial rock in the centre of Rovinj, -plenty of climbing in the climbing areas around Rovinj, -fast climbing on Zlatni rt, -promotion of books, guides and magazines from the outdoor sports field, -professional lectures and seminars, -video and photo projections. The guest of the festival is Silvo Karo one of the best climbers on big rocks in the world. He will show us a film on the first climbing to the south of "Cerro Torre" rock in Patagonia and photo projection of different climbings in Patagonia and of Patagonia s rocks. The second guest is a climbing legend, Italian climber Maurizio Zanola - Manolo and he will present himself with lectures and projections of his latest achievements.
Programme:
Friday 2 p.m. -beginning of the sport climbing competition
Friday 9 p.m. -lectures by Silvo Karo on Patagonia and south rock in cinema in Rovinj in hotel "Park" hall
Saturday climbing in the Rovinian area, promotion of books, guides and magazines and
Silvo Karo meeting with young alpinists. Sport climbing competition and announcement of winners with prize giving (prize fond of 20000 kn)
Sunday -9 p.m. -lectures and meeting with Manolo - same place as Friday
Nedjelja fast climbing competition in Zlatni rt
Enes Seferagić - Enki, an alpinist from Pula, organized the manifestation. Co-organization - sport climbing club "Muntavo" from Rovinj.
