Grisia Art exhibition in Grisia Street in Rovinj

Grisia Art exhibition in Grisia Street in Rovinj Photo gallery

###

The most exciting day of the year, at least in the art sense, for forty two years has been the second Sunday in August. From dawn until dusk on that day, in the most beautiful and picturesque old town street of Rovinj, an exhibit under the sky, Grisia, is being held. The specificity of this, the biggest exhibit under the sky in the Mediterranean, is in that everybody has the right to participate and exhibit – from painters to amateurs, from kids and students to older artists. Grisia is a place for meetings. Except the “crash” of colours, dimensions, designs and materials on that street there are encounters of friends, acquaintances, those who have been coming for decades as well as those who have walked its curvy and stone carpet for the first time.

All of them are there to mingle and show what they do best – painting of canvas, cardboard or paper, making jewellery, sculptures, something abstract or something usable. The only and main imperative on Grisia is to be different, more original, recognizable and distinct. But, since not everyone can be the best, this year the judges Ketrin Miličević Mijošek, Marija Ivetić i Oto Širec have made their decision. The first prize of the City of Rovinj in the amount of KN 8,000 and an Istrian prioscutto went to the Zagreb art photographer, illustrator and designer Danilo Dučak, who presented a book of a small format in which he published drawings with the oldest showings of Rovinj. The second prize of the City, worth KN 5,000 plus bonus – an Istrian cheese went to Davor Rapaić for his abstract painting and the third prize of the same worth given by the Regional Museum, Vanja Trumpić for a painting from the newest opus.

The prize for applied art went to Refik Salija Fiko from Poreč, while the sponsor prizes in the amount of KN 4,500 went to Bruno Mascarelli, Aleksandar Garbin, Vladimir Dodig Trokut, Nina Šperanda, Branko Kolarić i Damir Stojnić. Also, there were six special recognitions handed out. On this year's Grisia there were 282 authors, from which 55 were painters, 12 were students of the arts, 22 kids, while the rest of exhibitors were without formal education.
