The Tuba Quartet “XL”, the only chamber ensemble of the kind in this area, comprised of Zagreb's brass musicians – Viktor Kirčenkov, Mario Šincek, Josip Kapović and Krunoslav Babbić, held a concert within the cultural summer programme in Rovinj.
The quartet was founded in 2002 aiming to show that the tuba may perform not only chamber music but solo performance as well.
Young musicians play a wide repertoire of masterworks ranging from old composers as da Palestrina, Bach or Händel through classic and romantic composers to contemporary composers and Jazz. Concerning the fact that there is almost no original literature for the tuba quartet, young musicians often use arrangements of concert masterworks, mostly of classical ones. At the Rovinj's summer stage Monte, the audience had an opportunity to hear a little of everything, which it welcomed warmly.
It would be sufficient to point out concerning the quality of their musical expression that the quartet members, after completed their musical studies, have been professionally improving with the most known world experts as Bobo, Culbertson, Batsinka, Hilgers, Perantoni, Vlatković and others.
