The Hollowbodies project was an opportunity for Scofield to play with one of the greatest guitarists today, Kurt Rosenwinkel, together with Bill Stewart on the drums and Ben Street on the bass. The guitar has a broad tonal range and Hollowbodies use this spectrum, Scofield’s ensemble arrangements and orchestral abilities of the guitar, bass and percussions. As always, improvisation is a key ingredient, while true magic lies in their interplay. John Scofield’s guitar playing opus has had an increasing influence on jazz since the late 1970s to date. His distinctive sound and style diversity make Scoefield a master of jazz improvisation and his music may be classified somewhere between post-bop, jazz-funk and R&B.
