In celebration of St. Euphemia and the Day of the City, which takes place on September 16th, the fifteenth consecutive Sprint Triathlon was held in Rovinj. Fifty-two athletes from Slovenia, Italy and Croatia participated in the triathlon organized by ‘Triathlon Club Rovinj’ in association with the Croatian Triathlon Federation.
The participants’ goal was to swim 750 meters in Lone cove, cycle 20 kilometers towards Bale and back, and finally to run a five kilometer trail in Zlatni Rt (forest park) in the shortest time possible.
Gordan Petković from the «Petar Zrinski» Triathlon Club was most successful and placed first with a time of 01:05:45. Second place went to Francesco Cauz from AS «Bianchi Keyline» with a time of 01:06:31, while third place went to Mijo Bebić from the «Split» Triathlon Club. His time was 01:06:32.
In the Sprint Triathlon category – cadets competed in speed swimming over a 325 meter length, an eight kilometer long cycling fest, and a 2,5 kilometer run. The following results were achieved. First place went to Petra Jakšić from the «Split» Triathlon Club with a finish time of 00:43:05.
