The famous Split singer and songwriter Tedi Spalato had a concert in Rovinj and the stage Monte. A great number of visitors were interested in his performance, especially because this was Spalato’s first concert in the city of St. Euphemia.
The concert evening, which lasted for more than two and a half hours, Tedi started by performing an old song dedicated to his home town of Split, while by performing the song “Tonka”, which he dedicated to a young visitor, he evoked memories of once extremely popular group Novi fosili, one of the trademarks of which was exactly this song. Exceptionally popular performances of Dalmatian songs such as “Konoba” (Wine cellar) and “More” (the Sea) followed, which caused the due applause of the audience, as well as the cult harmony-singing song “Dalmatino povišći pritrujena” (Dalmatia burdened by its past).
In addition to these songs and with the help of his backup band Marinero, Tedi also performed the songs from his last CD “Lipote gladan, ljubavi žedan” (Hungry for beauty, thirsty for love), which talk about Dalmatia, the sea, life of an ordinary man in a small coastal town, customs that disappear, meaning of life and these small and seemingly unimportant things that make our lives full and stable.
One of the very best ambassadors of Dalmatian songs brought back memories of archaic words and phrases performing his songs with the taste of salt and sea drops, while he also gladdened the audience’s souls and hearts with his love songs overfilled with emotions.
