The Tourist Board organized an attractive programme in the summer calendar – the Night of St Lawrence. During this night of ‘falling stars,’ Rovinj was promoted as a romantic destination, with great entertainment and its street atmosphere of electric lighting turned off. The street lanterns were free for the night, while light was emitted by candles on café tables and torches. During this special night every year, Rovinj basks but in shimmering candlelight and the gleam of stars above.

The overall ambience is also added to by a special selection of music. Programmes were organized in as many as seven town spots and stages. This year, the central stage was taken by two music stars – by the first lady of the domestic chanson and the greatest interpreter of world famous hits and evergreen tunes - Radojka Šverko, who – accompanied by the Kristian Terzić Quartet, performed own songs, along with the famous “Lanterna,“ and Sinatra’s hits, such as “Fly Me To The Moon“ and “I've Got You Under My Skin“. The second music star was Massimo Savić, who reminded the audience of some of his old and great hits as well, such as “Sjaj u tami“ and “Stranac u noći,“ establishing himself once again as one of the best home male vocals.

The Balota beach traditionally had members of the folk group “Batana,“ while the stage at the Edmonda de Amicisa street featured opera arias and duets interpreted by the soprano Danijela Perosa, mezzo-soprano Blanka Tkalčić Breglec and baritone Ronaldo Braus, with Vesna Ivanović Ocvirk providing piano accompaniment. The Alda Rismonda waterfront had the excellent duo of Eligio Bosazzi and Boris Licitar performing romantic standards, while the Pignaton square went blues, pop and world, courtesy of the Denis& Friend Acoustic. The lovers of multi-vocal ‘klapa’ singing got their share too. The Rivijera square featured the mixed klapa Rovinj and the Mezzo trio, the latter performing classical romantic music and famous film scores on the piano, flute and violin. The most famous old town alley – Grisija, presented members of the chamber choir Rubino. A dance performance was once again the task of a great assembly of young town dancers, performing under the name of Roxanne.
