The Town of Rovinj Tourist Board treated home folk and guests with a celebratory cake and 30-metre long apple strudel. The reason for the treat was a repeated record year, during which the Town of St Euphemia realised three million stays for the second time, thereby becoming once again the most visited tourist destination in the Adriatic. According to the words of Tourist Board Director, Odeta Sapač, this fantastic result is the result of work by all those who create, promote and work for the tourist offer and those who provide logistic support, while Rovinj Mayor, Giovanni Sponza, along with congratulations, said this record is the result of joint and envisioned action. He also reminded Rovinj won the title of the tourism champion several times and was proclaimed the best maintained town in the Adriatic four times.
Citing figures, Sapač pointed out this season in Rovinj saw the realisation of 347,716 stays i.e. thirteen per cent more than last year at the same time. Overall, 434,167 arrivals were realised, which is an improvement of sixteen per cent in comparison with last year.
“One of essential factors in the realisation of results is surely the attractiveness and that special something of the town, its environment, tradition, history and culture. It should be noted there is a synergy between the public and private sectors within the destination when activities are defined and implemented in the areas of tourism, investments, events and manifestations – for realised tourist figures are the result of effort by all those engaged in Town’s tourist offer,” Director Sapač concluded.
The cake several metres tall, as well as the celebratory round one on which the number of stays and the coat of arms were iced were prepared by pupils and teachers of the Eugen Kumičić Vocational School. Preparing these, 360 eggs, 120 kilograms of apples and the same weight of flour, 60 kilograms of margarine and 50 kilograms of sugar were used.
