Batana Eco-museum on UNESCO"s list of intangible cultural heritage

The Batana Eco-museum was nominated by the Croatian Ministry of Culture for UNESCO"s list of best practices in safeguarding the intangible cultural heritage.

Few days ago the application was given the green light by UNESCO"s Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage because the Eco-museum has successfully linked the revival of one element of intangible cultural heritage (art of building batana boats) with sustainable development, with an impact on the entire community.

This way the Batana Eco-museum implemented the principles and objectives of the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage in the best possible way.

The inscription to the list is expected at the annual meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee which is to be held in Addis Ababa from 28 November – 2 December 2016.
