Catamaran Revera sails the Rovinj port to transfer passengers to Katarina island
8.8.2024
This is the first catamaran on the Adriatic that is entirely powered by electricity. It was built by an Istrian shipbuilder, the company Marservis d.o.o. from Kaštelir. Revera is a unique ship that combines environmentally friendly materials and advanced technologies for sustainable travel. The catamaran is powered by electricity obtained from its own photovoltaic system, which makes it completely environmentally friendly. It is partly made of natural materials such as linen, cork and bio-epoxy resin.
The features of Revera meet today’s ecological challenges, with a special emphasis on the preservation of the marine ecosystem. For this purpose, the tourism company Maistra signed an agreement with the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund on the co-financing of ship traffic using alternative fuels, by providing subsidy funds. On short distances, where the journey from the coast to the island of Katarina takes less than 10 minutes, the ship is operational all day. Revera also has impressive dimensions, as it is almost 19 meters long, 7.6 meters wide, and can accommodate a hundred passengers in its spacious salon. The interior of the ship includes two toilets, a spacious passenger area and a modern wheelhouse.
With this important step, the client sets new standards in sustainable maritime transport and sustainable tourism, and demonstrates its commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development, while offering top-notch service to its guests.
