Kruno Sudec – The Istrian Constellation

Kruno Sudec – The Istrian Constellation Photo gallery

Photography Exhibition

This exhibition presents the author's ten-year photographic journey through Istria, transformed into around eighty Polaroid miniatures.
Sudec captures both well-known and hidden scenes of the peninsula, exploring layers of space, memory, and the transience of time.

Through motifs of the sea, doors, clouds, windows, and cats, the artist constructs a narrative that connects the real and the imaginary, the everyday and the mythical.
The instant Fuji Instax technique lends the works spontaneity and emotional immediacy, in contrast to the perfection of digital precision.

The photographs reveal a thoughtful play of light and texture, evoking nostalgia, introspection, and quiet stories of a lived-in space.
Sudec’s vision, inspired by artists such as Sugimoto, Eggleston, and Ghirri, blends the documentary with the poetic into a distinctive visual language.

His "Istrian journey" ends symbolically — with a gaze into the stars and a map of places that form a personal constellation of experiences.
The Istrian Constellation exhibition stands as a testament to the personal and artistic journey of a photographer who found a new beginning in Istria.
