13th Edition of the Ronald Braus and Guests
Music and Stage Show
For full thirteen years, the Tourist Board of the Town of Rovinj has been organizing the Ronald Braus and Guests music and stage show in the middle of August, more precisely on Assumption Day, on St. Andrew’s Island, the most beautiful location in the Mediterranean situated close to Rovinj. Although this year's show was postponed for two weeks, people nevertheless came to see this unique happening that has been bringing renowned and experienced names from the Croatian music scene to the most magical Adriatic island year after year. It wasn't long before people started unofficially referring to this year's edition of the Ronald Braus and Guests event as A Greeting to the Sun show.
The musical evening was held beneath the castle, the most significant and most attractive structure on the island. It was marked by romance and quality music, an atmosphere contributed primarily by the carefully selected performers. Besides the always-present Croatian ballet champion Dinko Bogdanić, today also Head of the Split Opera, there was one more citizen of Split dominating the stage. To be more precise, the audience had the honor to enjoy a performance by the special guest of the evening, one of the most famous sopranos from Former Yugoslavia, Gertruda Mutinić, who sang an aria from Mala Floramye, an operetta by Tijardić, called Dalek me biser mora, deservingly winning ovations from the audience. Along with the prima donna of the Split Opera, her colleagues took turns on the stage as well, namely Tvrtko Stipić, a tenor from the Croatian National Theater who captured the hearts of the audience by performing the Parlami d'amore Mariu evergreen and Varaždin soprano Lidija Horvat Dunjko who absolutely radiated while performing Nostalgija, a song she performed together with Danijela Martinović at the Eurovision contest in 1995, turning the audience into a choir. Vesna Čipčić, a Belgrade actress, inspiringly recited poetry by Miloš Crnjanski, thus ensuring in the best possible manner that the show did not lack poetic lines, while the duet was reserved for the hosts, Croatian actress Mila Elegović and opera singer Ronald Braus who performed a song called Love in Portofino. In addition to the numerous songs performed, such as opera arias, old-town songs and evergreens, the show was enriched by choral singing directed by the increasingly present Rovinj Antonio Gandusio Choir.
The music and stage spectacle was accompanied by a sponsor reception organized by the Maistra hotel company that truly deserved all the congratulations, as did the well-known Istrian winemaker Klaudio Tomaz for his contribution to this year’s event.
