For the fourth consecutive year Rovinj is Croatia’s leader in tourist overnights and for the third time in a row on September 18 the town whose patron saint is St. Euphemia reached the desired number of 3 million overnights. The Manageress of the Tourist Board of RovinjOdete Sapač has welcomed this wonderful achievement by extending her appreciation to the hardworking staff of the Town of Rovinj, both office and outside workers, and everyoneactive in the community, including guests loyal to Rovinj as their holiday destination whoseenthusiasm and love for this charming town have made all this possible.
To acknowledge everyone’s contribution to this excellent result, the Tourist Board of Rovinj and students of the Eugen Kumičić Vocational School have prepared a deliciouthank-you treat – a 38-meter-long cake. Diligent students led by their pastry arts teacher Sandra Živolićand academically trained Chef Anton Tonij Čehić worked on the cake for two days and their hard work has definitely paid offThe middle of the cake was filled with a delicious walnut filling and the celebrated record number was written on top and, in addition to a lot of workand love, the cake was made with an equally large amount of ingredients. For the apple, cherry and cheese pie pastry chefs needed 40 kg of flour, 120 eggs, 16 kg of sugar, 70 kg of apples, and 13 kg of cherries and 16 kg of cottage cheese. As for the taste, it is enough to say that it was gone in less than 20 minutes from its serving at the terrace of the Hotel Adriatic.
