In the Town Rovinj's Country Museum, the 54th Art Colony Rovinj has been opened for the visitors until 19th of August. This is the joint exhibition of various authors – painters, sculptors, photographers, established back in 1953 by artists gathered around the „Valdibora“group.
At the exhibition some forty artists exposed their works of art; an awarding jury comprised of Ph.D. Zvonko Maković, an art historian, Dubravko Adamović, a president of HDLU (Croatian Association of Fine Artists) and Dario Sošić, a curator of Rovinj's Country Museum, chose this year laureates.
The first prize of the Country Museum along with independent exhibition was presented to Igor Grubić, for the photograph called „Sandra and Igor 2001“, which according to the Jury „expresses in ultimately condensed and precise way the artist's attitude as a key component of his comprehension of the essence of art“. The second prize of the Country Museum was awarded to Dženet Tumpić, lady author well known by her works in glass, who, this time, did „an ornamental pattern subtly transformed into a matrix, a formal texture for building up her world within the field of painting“.
The young artist prize was presented to Branko Kolarić for the installation „Nameless 2007“, by which, according to the Jury, he wittily changed allegedly usual concepts. The honourable prize „Batana“ was awarded to Nikola Ražov for the work of art „Ala Aladin“ in which „he establishes in very lucid way an ideology for a work structure as an irony of its phenomena.“
The Jury also awarded two buy-off prizes. The first buy-off prize was presented to Đorđe Jandrić for the installation „A Pile 1-701“, and the second to Silva Šarić for the work of art called „No Name Installation“.
