Do you know when the first fireworks show in the sky above Rovinj was organized? This was the question posed by Zdenka Gudelj, the more beautiful half of the well-tuned Braus-Gudelj announcing duo that hosted the events on the main stage. After receiving the correct answer i.e. in 1967, she gave a short historical account of the event. Upon hearing that the first fireworks show lit up the sky above the waterfront that abounded in palm trees, the audience gave a loud sigh: “Aaaah…!”. This depiction is only a small part of the excellent atmosphere and good vibrations coming from the main stage.
Numerous performances were given before the show. Rovinj Majorettes gave a dance performance; Le Mond performed accompanied by the voice of Eva Čiček; regular guests of the Rovinj Nights performed as well, together with Gustafi and Magazin, the bands that are always warmly welcomed and listened to. Jelena, the blue-eyed, blond-haired singer from Magazin dominated the stage.
The numerous crowd who sang the well-known hits by composer and songwriter Tonči Huljić in unison, as if in a trance, proved that Magazin from Split was, among other bands, really the right choice. Songs like Put putujem, Piši, piši mi, Kokolo, Nazaret and Nostalgija are just some of the hits that Rovinj audience sang at their main town square together with their much-liked band. Unfortunately, the expected after-midnight performance by Le Mond, and the act of turning Renato, the singer, into Tina Turner - the rock diva, and the Gustafovske štale were cancelled because of the pouring rain and the thundering storm.
