Istrian Spring – A Youth Bicycle Race

Under the sponsorship of the Tourist Board and the Town, Rovinj was the host of the bicycle race „Istrian spring for the young“ on 14 and 15 April.

Under the sponsorship of the Tourist Board and the Town, Rovinj was the host of the bicycle race „Istrian spring for the young“ on 14 and 15 April.
A two-day bicycle race in which 160 cyclists from Austria, Slovenia and Croatia were competing in the junior, cadet and beginners categories was organized by „Puris Kamen“ from Pazin.
After adding points from both races, the best riding knowledge and skills were demonstrated by the Croatian junior Igor Črnila, who is riding for „Perutnina Ptuj“, Austrian cadet Marco Haller and Slovene beginner Urban Jelovčan.
In the total order, the first place in the junior category was won by Igor Črnila, followed by Stefan Riepan (Austria- Kostels), Jan Sokol (Austria- Kostels) and Marjan Perković (Loborika). Marco Haller was the most successful among the cadets, followed by Blaž Bogataj and Blaž Sirnik. The first place in the beginners’ category was won by Urban Jelovčan, followed by Aleš Novak and Nejc Korošec.
On the first day of competition there was a round race 3,5 km long with start and finish in Rovinj, while 35 km long round race from Rovinj to Rovinjsko Selo, Sošići, Bale and back to Rovinj was held on the second day.
