The first day of Popolana, a three-day event taking place in the main town square under the slogan ‘With Sports from Streets and Squares to Nature and Tourism’ for the second straight year showed the spirit of youth. Almost one thousand and five hundred children, preschool, school and high school children, crowded the town center and competed in different sports events.

Members of competing teams participated in all sorts of events including combined fishing event, case and water carrying, relay race, etc

The youngest enjoyed the company of clowns and the older kids competed in various games of skill and speed. Competitions were preceded by an attractive performance by the Rovinj Majorettes and the Brass Orchestra.

Next to the central stage, where Maistra's animators repeatedly invited citizens and tourists to participate in competitions, was a humanitarian stall embellished with colorful balloons and inspiring messages.

Numerous volunteers led by Mirjana Kmačić Pellizzer, a marathon runner, were selling T-shirts at promotional prices so kind people could participate and contribute to the action ‘1+ 1= million steps’.

The aim of the humanitarian action, on which occasion Kmačić Pellizzer will run the Rovinj-Pula- Rovinj route, is to raise enough money for the acquisition of computers for the members of the Rovinj Association of People with Disabilities. During the first day after only a few hours Popolana T-shirts were all sold out and the result was more than eighteen thousand kunas raised for the cause. Next

Sports event with several hundred participants was organized by the town of Rovinj, Rovinj Tourist Board, Maistra and Rovinj Sports Federation.
