The first fishermen's night of this year, organized by Maistra and the Tourist Board, was held on the town quay, attracting numerous visitors. The fishermen's night fully lived up to its name – the alluring scent of grilled pilchards and picarels, roast calamari and ombolo.
In addition to good wine and seafood, the atmosphere was uplifted by Rovinj musicians. People sang and danced to the performance of the Batana folk band, while Sergio Predan Gato literally had the visitors at the fishermen’s festivity on their feet with his distinctive voice and interpretations.
The concert that went on deep into the night was preceded by the performance of the Brass Band members, who also attracted a major applause from the audience. Many visitors, mostly from abroad, were also attracted by an unusual scene presented by some young people from Rovinj, gathered outside the terrace of Hotel Adriatic.
Encouraged by their professor Dubravka Medak, they plaited their glass demijohns with rope. Their skill attracted numerous curious passersby – in other words, they managed to save an old craft our ancestors had used from extinction and complete oblivion.
