Rovinj Photodays - exhibition of awarded photographs

The competition that is each year part of the Rovinj Photodays photography festival received seven thousand photographs divided into eleven official categories.

The author from Pula, Igor Zirojević, is the winner for best photographs created during the previous year in the category of nature. According to the verdict of the international jury headed by Sandra Vitaljić and comprising of members Ana Opalić, Boris Cjetanović, Massimo Sordi and Stefania Rossi, Zirojević earned the high placement thanks to three photographs shot from the air, in which he examines the relationship between man and nature, while treating a landfill as natural environment.
As for other categories, the following authors were awarded: Barbara Šarić (nude), Darija Cikač (architecture), Dinko Cepak (documentary photography), Bruna Kazinoti (fashion), Smiljka Guštak (portrait), Sanja Bacrach and Mario Krištofić (applied photography), Toni Hnojčik (magazines), Vladimir Kanić (video shot by camera), Hrvoje Slovenc (art conception) and Borko Vukosav, Jelena Blagović and Petra Mrša, the three best young authors.
In case of special awards for contribution to photography, the decision rested this year with the counselling board of the festival, comprised of renowned Croatian photography experts - Dubravka Osrečki Jakelić, Helena Srakočić, Želimir Koščević, Antun Travirka, Ivica Nikolac, Angelo Božac and Maša Štrbac, while the awards were given to authors who indebted Croatian photography with their photographs and art history work. This year, the winners were Nino Vranić, Mladen Tudor and Nada Grčević. All finalists and winners are to exhibit their photographs in all major towns in Croatia, followed by their incorporation into permanent exhibits of the Arts and Crafts Museum in Zagreb.
