St. Lawrence's Night
St. Lawrence's Night- an evening celebration on which occasion Rovinj becomes even more romantic. Lights are dimmed and the town echoes with romantic music. Visitors can enjoy an outdoor stage performance, dance and enjoy music. Special guests: Ivana Kindl, Mario Battifiaca & Saša Matovina, L´abeille and Jacques Houdek.

The Tourist Board of the Town of Rovinj provided over fifteen hundred candles to caterers and retailers so they would decorate their business premises with their light, and thus contribute to the success of the annual event called the Night of St. Lawr
The event called The Night of St. Lawrence, which accentuates the romantic spirit of Rovinj, will be organized this year for the eighth year in a row. This is the night when the falling stars called „the tears of St. Lawrence“ are most clearly seen in the sky. The waterfront night lighting will be turned off and torches will be lit instead in order to further accentuate the town’s romantic spirit. The numerous hotel and restaurant terraces will radiate candlelight, and the atmosphere will be completed by romantic music.
The romantic spirit of Rovinj will be further enriched by the dim light effects that will colorfully embellish the town square. The program will start with a promenade walk and a dance performance by the members of a dance ensemble. Dressed in court gowns and accompanied by musicians and torch lights, the dancers will give a hint as to the spirit of the entire event. Romantic music, opera arias and evergreens will be performed on a series of stages that will be set up across the town especially for this occasion. The program of the 2014 Night of St. Lawrence:

6. Church of St. Francis (Crkva sv. Franjo): 10.30 p.m. – Opera b.b. Concert: From an Operetta to a Musical (Ljiljana Čokljat – soprano, Ronald Braus – baritone, Velimir Čokljat – theater actor, Davor Ljubić – piano, Gandusio Choir
7. Baluota Beach: 9 p.m. - Summertime Accoustic Trio Denis and Bane Duo

The Night of St. Lawrence
The Tourist Board of the Town of Rovinj provided over fifteen hundred candles to caterers and retailers so they would decorate their business premises with their light, and thus contribute to the success of the annual event called the Night of St. Lawrence, taking place for the eight consecutive year. On one of the most romantic nights in the town of St. Euphemia, which was specially decorated with street torches and light effects on the facades of the old town, carried away by magical atmosphere and beautiful surroundings one young man decided to pop the question to the love of his life at one of the eight stages in town, and she said YES.
The intimate atmosphere could be felt in all corners of the town, which was largely contributed by numerous performers whose music and voices could be heard in the most attractive town locations from the Baluota beach through picturesque town squares all the way to the stairs and churchyard of the Church of St. Francis. The Night of St. Lawrence hosted 86 performers, so even the pickiest audience had an opportunity to listen to their favourite performer. With their attractive dance moves under the torch light during the promenade stroll through the town, the forty-one member of the dance studio "Roxanne", dressed in evening gowns and accompanied by a violinist and guitarist, invited guests and heralded the entire event.
Duo Eligio and Boris performed on the Shipyard Square, while Davor and Gracijan Terzić perfomed on the sea front of Aldo Rismond. The Pignaton Square hosted a trio Evolution, and the town’s main square (the Marshall Tito Square) hosted Jacques Houdek and Ivana Kindl. Batana boats were anchored in front of the Baulota beach, where Summertime acoustic trio and duo Denis and Bane played their music. The Riviera Square was filled with music by the Zagreb trio L'abeille, followed by the excellent duet performance by Saša Matovina and Mario Lipovšek (Batifiaca ) who held a concert titled "Black and white world." The musical evening was ended by the band Dream Project-acoustic. The churchyard of the Church of St. Francis was traditionally reserved for opera fans. They enjoyed the performance of the members of the Opera b.b. - Ljiljana Čokljat, soprano, Ronald Braus, baritone, Velimir Čokljat, dramatic actor, and Davor Ljubić piano. Judging by the number of visitors, but also the quality and richness of the program, the event "the Night of St. Lawrence" organized by the Tourist Board, is one of the top summer events in the town of Rovinj that should not be missed, next to that greatest and most beautiful Rovinj Night.
