For the third year in a row, the Monte summer stage hosted the guitar virtuoso concert performed by Vlatko Stefanovski and Miroslav Tadić. According to the Istrian public, it was the performance of the season that set high quality standards for future concert performances.

The two-hour program featuring amazing Macedonian folk music improvisations often had the audience applauding spontaneously and in mid performance, two special guest stars were introduced.

On stage first appeared the Bulgarian kaval flute virtuoso, Theodosii Spassov, followed by one of the world’s greatest tabali (a traditional percussion instrument) musicians – Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri from India. It is hard to say which musician impressed the people of Rovinj more, because the audience awarded each musician with a lasting applause for each of their solo sections as well as for their overall performances.

Not only did the kaval flute and rhythms created by the exotic Indian tabali prove to be ideal instrumental spices to be added to the exotic Macedonian rhythms, but they also provided the music with a particular charm and meditative ambience that successfully created a unique and tasteful effect.

Vlatko Stefanovski is a cult Macedonian musician and one of the founding members of the legendary band Leb i Sol.

Two months ago, the well known University of St. Cyril and Methodius in Skopje named him an honorary doctor of the Arts for his exceptional contributions to the field of music.
