45th GRISIA – THE MOST FAMOUS ONE-DAY OUTDOOR EXHIBITION IN THE MEDITERRANEAN
Pula Artist Bojan Šumonja Wins First Prize
More than two hundred and seventy participants to the largest and most famous outdoor exhibition, the well-known Rovinj Grisia, gathered at the one-day fine art exhibition that has been organized in the old town center for forty five years on the second Sunday in August. Academic artists and artists by vocation, both young and old, locals and foreigners, all of them came to exhibit their works and show what they know and are capable of. The artists were rewarded by the response of the numerous audience and fine art lovers who came to see their work.
Rivers of people flew from all directions into this most famous, steep, stone winding street where the building facades, walls, balconies, windows and stone arched doorways were decorated and embellished on this and only this day during the year with paintings, sculpture and objects of aesthetic and artistic value. Various techniques and motifs of the works exhibited were drawing attention by their colors, styles and artistic expressions, reminding once again of the fact that Rovinj is a town of artists and unique artistic events.
Finally, the expert judging committee composed of Vilma Bartolić, Korana Kolarić and Tina Širec gave its opinion. After an extended viewing and deliberation, it was decided to present the first purchase prize awarded by the Town of Rovinj to academic painter Bojan Šumonja for his works presenting the images of Ivo Josipović, Jadranka Kosor, Stjepan Mesić and Ivo Sanader in one, and the image of Pope Ratzinger in the other painting. The second purchase prize also awarded by the Town of Rovinj was won by Damir Stojnić, while the purchase prize awarded by the Native Museum of Rovinj, also the organizer of the traditional Grisia Exhibition, was presented to Patricija Cunjak. Boris Bučan received special commendation from the judging committee for his street painting project. Four more purchase prizes, awarded by the Esel Company from Kurilo, the Gratis Company from Tinjan, the Maistra Hotel Company and the Tourist Board of the Town of Rovinj, were presented to Radovan Kunić, Neva Pizzul, Vjekoslava Sošić and Jelena Kovačević.
