GRISIA SEES ITS 46th EDITION
The biggest and longest-running exhibition attracts 240 artists
On the second Sunday in August, following the tradition started in 1967, the longest street in the old heart of Rovinj once again became the venue for the biggest and longest-running outdoor art show – Grisia. The 46th Grisia attracted as many as 240 artists including seventy-seven academic artists, fourteen students, various amateur painters and a large number of wonderfully gifted children. After taking a close look at the works of art on display Grisia’s three-judge panel, consisting of Branka Stipančić, Corana Littvay and Feđa Gavrilović, decided that the winning painting is academic artist Danilo Dučak’s work, who was awarded The Town of Rovinj Art Prize (seven thousand kuna and a prosciutto). The runner-up was academic painter Aleksandar Garbin (who was awarded five thousand kuna and a cheese wheel) while Ivanka Ruk Ražov won The Rovinj Heritage Museum Prize. The Town of Rovinj Applied Arts Prize was awarded to Claudia Meneghin, while awards from the sponsors went to Jasna Šikanja (Rovinj Tourist Board), Patricija Cunjak (Maistra, Inc.), and Davor Rapaić (ARH Studio).
Over the years the popular art show has become more like a festival or an art fair where artists exchange experiences and ideas. Over twenty thousand visitors move through the famous street with paintings and sculptures galore on the day of the exhibition and due to an impressive number of artists displaying their artwork on the walls of the buildings, window shutters and stone stairs in this most famous art street in the Mediterranean, visitors and fine art aficionados simply can’t help falling in love with Grisia.
