By tradition, Grisija - the longest and most famous painters’ street of Rovinj - opens its doors to numerous artists on the second Sunday of August. This year it was organized for the 48th time.

On that day, artists of all kinds meet in this picturesque and winding street with the intention of presenting their work during this one-day outdoor exhibition.

More than three hundred exhibitors, including painters and sculptors, exhibited at this year’s Grisija. The prize-awarding committee had a difficult time selecting the best works. Yet, they handled it professionally and awarded the first prize of the Town of Rovinj to Matija Debeljuh from Vodnjan, and the second to sculptor Andrija Milovan from Rovinj.

The award granted by the Native Museum of Rovinj went to Josip Pino Ivančić for a great performance in which this innovative and often shocking artist played a poodle. The award in the category of applied arts went to Ivanka Ruk-Ražov. The sponsorship awards were presented to Vanja Popek, Andi Pekica, Tea Bičić, Branko Kolarić, Dalibor Talajić, Nikola Ražov, Vjekoslav Brešić and Dženet Tumpić.

This year’s Grisija introduced a novelty. After receiving mini canvases from the Museum, 60 artists competed in two categories: free subject and motifs of Rovinj. The same prize-awarding committee that declared the winners of Grisija, selected the most successful works here as well.

The first prize in the category of art works depicting Rovinj went to Željko Kipke. The second award in the same category went to painters Zvjezdana Marguš and Lada Luketić. In the free-subject category, the first prize went to Marina Banić Zrinšćak, and the second one to Mirna Sišul and Aleksandra Rotar.
