One-man exhibition of a contemporary Croatian painter Fulvio Juričić, opened till 28th of July, is a review of his last ten years of work. In 1973 he entered the Academy of Art in Zagreb from which he graduated in 1979. Since 1979 he has been working as a professor in the School of Applied Art and Design in Pula. He was awarded for painting and graphics 22 times. Fulvio Juričić lives and works in Pula.
At this exhibition the most interesting are his famous series of paintings called »In between« and »Black sails«. »Black sails« are canvases full of strong energetic tension and one can see in them the exploring curiosity (always present in Fulvio's works) and mixture of experiencing historical avant-gardes of the fifties. Further on, different techniques and styles are seen in those paintings, from expressionistic brush-strokes to thin and hardly traceable shades of colour.
Fulvio Juričić is a lover of sea, ships, sailing and fishing. We are talking about a greatly experienced man who lives at the seaside and who persistently observes weather changes, listens to the sea waves and watches the swirl of wind. Such suggestive touch with nature the author transfers into the artistic world presenting it as an atmosphere on his paintings - sea and sky as anxiety, ominous silence and expectation.
»In between« is a series of paintings where we have glimpses of what is going to be and what was before the »Black sails«. Here, Juričić deals with drawings and paintings in a combination of charcoal and acrylic paint. We are talking about permanent aspiration of a man to overcome his evil fate, about eternal relation between good and evil, hell and heavenly prosperity.
