„For the second year in a row, Rovinj has been declared the cleanest city along the Adriatic coast. It is also the recipient of a silver Tourist Flower and three Maistra hotels – „Park“, „Eden“ and „Istra“ on Crveni Otok (Red Island), have been given flattering titles.

All of this and more! Our fellow citizen and longtime Maistra employee, Drago Sošić, won the award for best bartender on the Adriatic.

This award was granted in association with the Croatian Tourist Board's „Blue Flower“ under the category titled – „Man, the key to success in tourism“, stated Tourist Board director Odete Sapač while she handed over a plaquette to Drago Sošić at city hall.

The handing over of the plaquette and culinary duel held between famous people and civil servants at Rovinj’s first Festival of Delicacies caught the attention of the city’s citizens.

Mayor Giovanni Sponza, Maistra director Kristian Šuster, singer Mirko Cetinski and founder of “Gustafa”, Edi Maružin, competed to see who would make the best tasting Istrian pljukanci (pasta specialty). After taking in several samples, the panel of judges, made up of Viljam Cvek, Odete Sapač and Anton Čehić, unanimously decided that all competitors made the Istrian specialty equally well and thus deserved to share first place. During Rovinj's Festival of Delicacies, held on the city’s square, one could sample gastronomic specialties and purchase products labeled «Made in Istra» throughout the entire day.

Musicians playing the accordion, violin, sopila (type of flute), bajs (Istrian double-bass) and other instruments added to the festival’s atmosphere, while the highlight of the evening was the concert held by Gustafa who had the public dancing and singing on the city’s central square until late into the night.
