The final this year’s evening of fishing tradition saw the launch of the indigenous boat, batana "Regina," into the sea. It is the third reconstructed boat this year, that the shipbuilders from Rovinj, evening by evening, made new in order to puff new wind into its sails. Its launch from the small pier was accompanied by the sounds of the anthem of Rovinj - "La viecia batana," performed by the cultural association "Marco Garbin" and the Batana folk group, but also sang by numerous Rovinj folk. The launch, as fitting to the ancient custom, did not go without champagne.
Apart from the launch of "Regina," that was the backbone of the manifestation, the quay featured something for everybody. Great food and drinks were seasoned by local vocal a cappella singing, but performances by local artists as well. The great stage featured the Krka a cappella group and the Berekini from Split, while the audience were able to see footage on the beauty of Rovinj in between the acts, as recorded in 1937 and 1963. Before the very evening show, the streets and squares of Rovinj reverberated with the sound of the Town Marching Band, and one could also see the dance by the members of the cultural association "Stjepan Žiža" and Plesarin. The majorettes of Rovinj also attracted great interest from the crowd.
The programme took place as well on the Rivijera Square, where – apart from Anelida, Vesna Nežić- Ružić and the Batana performing, a quaint mini fair took place, where tourists, but local folk as well, were able to get characteristic Rovinj souvenirs for agreeable prices – t-shirts and bags with the town symbols, books on the batana boat (the characteristic vessel of Rovinj fishermen), as well as the characteristic food Rovinj has to offer.
A fishing net was stretched along the quay, which was darned by its owners, stopping to have a sip of local wine and a bite of grilled anchovies. There was also the man weaving wine bottles and making baskets there out of wicker, the deft hands of who attracted attention and caused admiration. Giovanni Trani presented himself too, bringing exhibits from the private museum of "Trani" for the first time, showing guests the life and customs of old Rovinj.
