„In 99 per cent cases the sea on the Croatian side of the Adriatic is of exquisite purity and quality. However, we must not ignore that one percent“, said President of the Zelena Istra Association, Dušica Radojčić, as she and her Italian colleagues and members of the Legambiente Environment Protection Agency sailed into the northern town harbor of Valdibor on the Goletta Verde to submit results of the sea quality analysis to press members and citizens. More precisely, samples had been taken from four beaches in Medulin, Pula and Rovinj and it has been established that the sanitary quality of the sea is within limits, apart from small deviations at the town beach near the Villas Rubin tourist resort.
Radojčić also emphasized that on the Istrian Penisula Rovinj is a town that has gone the furthest in the protection of the coast and seabed, so it is not surprising that this year’s action for the sea preservation and rising of environmental awareness started in the town of St. Euphemia.
Odete Sapač, Manageress of the Tourist Office, expressed her concern for the sea and seabed by presenting Let the Blue Stay Blue promotion brochure, the first issue that will be distributed in tourist accommodation facilities, in cooperation with the Port Authority of Rovinj and the Sunce Association for Nature, Environment and Sustainable Development from Split.
The brochure is in Croatian, German, Italian and English and it warns and educates tourists and citizens about different actions they can take to preserve the big blue sea and its eco system.
