ADRIS RC44 - Magic under the Sails
With its spectacular scenes, full sails on the open sea, and the nail-biting suspense over who was going to win felt until the very end of the race, the second edition of the ADRIS RC44 Cup fully met the expectations of the organizers and the numerous sailing lovers from Croatia and around the world.
As one of the hosts of the world championship tour of the best sailboats, whose class is known as the Formula 1 class, Rovinj found itself in the selected company of the most popular tourist destinations in the world and was entrusted with the organization of the final race of the RC44 World Championship.
In terms of sports, we witnessed an exciting final race as the winner of this year's Adris RC44 Cup was decided only in the final one hundred meters. Many sailing experts found the victory of the British Peninsula Petroleum with skipper Vasco Vascotto from Italy somewhat unexpected. His and John Bassadone's (the owner) crew sailed fantastically and practically stole the title from Chris Bake and Cameron Appleton's Aqua crew, the RC44 Fleet Racing champions, from under their very noses. Igor Lah's Ceeref won third and the Synergy's Russian crew fourth place. This high-budget event held in the waters surrounding Rovinj was organized by the Croatian Sailing Federation with Adris Group as the main sponsor and host.
