Anna Oxa - The Brightest Rovinj Night Star

This year's Rovinj Night - the festival boasting the longest tradition in the Adriatic region, organized for the first time more than four decades ago in honor of the visitors spending their holidays in Rovinj, but also in honor of the locals and the valuable tourism workers who are doing their best to make the visitors' stay in the town of St. Euphemy as pleasant and as comfortable as possible - will definitely be remembered by the long fireworks show and the star singer, famous Italian pop diva Anna Oxa, who showed off her beautiful voice in an attractive performance, thrilling more than twenty thousand visitors.

As expected, the Rovinj Night attracted numerous visitors from entire Istria. Long lines of cars started approaching Rovinj already in the afternoon hours, and rivers of people flew in all directions: throughout the old-town streets, along the waterfront and the main square with the central stage. The other stage was set up at the Big Pier. The resounding and attractive invitation to the people visiting the town of St. Euphemy was first sent by the members of the Rovinj Wind Music Band (Limena glazba Rovinj) and the Rovinj Majorettes, whose performances convinced the visitors that this Rovinj Night would be a long and interesting one. The numerous hotel and restaurant service providers, led by the Maistra Hotel Company and the House of Batana, contributed to the event as well, going out to the streets this year in a noticeably greater number ensuring the visitors an even richer and better culinary offer.

Nevertheless, two stages – the big one set up at the main square and the small yet equally attractive one set up at the Big Pier – were the centers of the event. Each stage featured performances by several performers, so that even the visitors with the most refined taste in music had an opportunity to see and hear something to their liking. Local performers from the excellent Le Monde band and ingenious singer Evica Čiček, to the excellently spirited members of the Dream Project band took turns performing, thus keeping the audience thrilled and in a dancing mood until 11 p.m. and the beginning of the fireworks show. At the same time, the visitors at the Big Pier enjoyed the performance by the Party band, the Master band and the sounds of the recognized and famous citizen of Rovinj, Kristian Terzić&friends.

After the spectacular fireworks show featuring attractive light effects that streaked through the sky above Rovinj for full 25 minutes, thus earning an enormous and spontaneous applause of the audience, singer Anna Oxa – the brightest Rovinj Night star - appeared on the central stage. With her two-hour concert and communication with the audience, she showed why she has been around for so long and why she is admired by audiences around the world. She started her under-the-stars concert performance with Una emozione da Foco, and continued filling the night with numerous old and famous hits, ending it with an encore and La Panchina e il New York Times. Of course, the double Sanremo winner left her fans speechless with the performance of her timeless hits, such as Donna con te, Storie, E' tutto un'attimo, Senza pieta, and many others.

The third and final evening of the Rovinj Festival, organized this year as well by the workers of the Tourist Board of the Town of Rovinj, was closed by Slavonian folk songs known as bećarci. The Rovinj Night featured a guest performance by the members of the Slavonian Fairy Cultural Club (KUD Slavonska vila) from the village of Marijanci -Kunišinci, who performed a number of folk songs and dances from the Osijek-Baranja County in front of the thrilled audience. The members of the club, 35 of them, dressed in folk costumes and playing the tamburitza, touched the hearts and brought tears to the eyes of the numerous visitors with their performance of the famous song called Ne dirajte mi ravnicu, thus ending yet another in the series of successful Rovinj Nights in the best possible way.
