Green & Blue Cleanup - A Day for a Clean Environment
On the second weekend of May Rovinj’s Tourist Board and the Town of Rovinj have again joined efforts to organize the cleaning up of Rovinj’s seabed, lawns and gardens. This is the third time in a row that Rovinj is taking part in the "Let's do it- World Cleanup 2014” global project organized under the motto "Green & Blue Cleanup - A Day For a Clean Environment".
During the weekend several locations were cleaned. The Zlatni rt Forest Park was cleaned by an eco-team comprising students of Eugen Kumičić Vocational School, while Monfiorenzno was cleaned by its citizens, employees of the Town Utilities Department and numerous public servants and Town representatives. Traditionally, the island of Figarola was cleaned by members of the Sports Fishing Club Meduza, while the town harbour was cleaned by divers of KPA Rovinj, DPA Ugor Vrsar, RKA Ariel Ližnjan, DP DSP Poreč and KPA Uljanik from Pula. Employees of the Town Utilities Department, Rovinj Port Authority, Marine Research Centre and students of Maritime Studies from the University of Pula also helped. At the same time, the youngest citizens of Rovinj from the Neven Kindergarten also helped make their hometown clean and tidy. They cleaned the kindergarten area with help from their teachers and parents. People from the biggest village in Istria Rovinjsko Selo also joined the big spring cleaning, same as members of the Rovinj Hunters Association who traditionally cleaned their favourite place – the island of Sv. Ivan.
